6 December 2009 - PLMC

I was almost left in a Sunday morning lurch
As daughter didn’t want me to attend “her” church
But my plans were able to change
And go to PLMC I did arrange
The second Advent week’s theme is faith
So the worship singers did sayeth

From Luke 1: 5-23 did Pastor Koh read
We heard what Zechariah and his wife did need
To burn incense he had been chosen by lot
When he came out, he could speak not
Gabriel had promised him a son
John would turn out to be a holy one
But Zechariah doubted this word
Even though it came from the Lord

The story of Christmas started well before
When Israel was exiled in days of yore
As Malachi wrote at the end of the OT
Despite Israel’s faults, good news there would be
In the first verse of chapter three
About John, Malachi did guarantee
And then chapter four, verse five
Spoke of John’s role before Jesus would arrive

Everywhere that John went
He called on people to repent
To repent one must feel the pain
Then we turn to Jesus for our gain
This is stated by the Divine
Look at 1 John 1, verse 9

We cannot appreciate grace without the law
As per the MRT analogy Pastor did draw
Prepare hearts is what we must do
Our own and others, not just a few
About Christmas we all seem to know
Putting up lights and shopping we go
These are by no means sins
But they aren’t where preparation begins
Our hearts should be humble
For we so often stumble
To Communion we should look
And of course read the Holy Book
Go daily to God in prayer
For this is how we can best prepare

Jesus was God’s great gift to us
He died for our sins without a fuss
This debt we can never repay
But His love we should always display
So in our soul and in our heart
Joy and repentance should never part
