2 April 2010 - PLMC

When on Good Friday at PLMC we did meet
We heard about "The Ultimate Sacrifice" from Pastor Seet
Genesis 22:1-19 was the first reading
To God's will Abraham was completely ceding
He was willing to sacrifice his only son Isaac
In return he got God's great blessings back
Then we read Isaiah 53, verses one to eight
About God's sacrifice of His own Son so great
When we look at verses five and six
We hear all that Jesus' death for us did fix
And as per John chapter fifteen verse thirteen
No greater love than this has ever been seen
And since Jesus died for our sins and so much more
We should love Him in return, Pastor did implore
To do so means complete surrender
No matter what our age or our gender

Pastor mentioned three ways of communicating love
Words and actions aren't enough for God above
As Psalm 51 verses sixteen to nineteen doth impart
What God wants from us is a broken spirit and a contrite heart
Pastor paralled this with a horse
Unbroken, not useful or even worse
If broken, the horse will obey the master
Making it more valuable than one which is faster
The people of God are now in a war
We cannot remain unbroken anymore
Then God can use us as he may please
Leveraging our talents and expertise

We then heard a testimony from Pastor Seet
Whose daughter got sick before each big church meet
This impacted his ability to do what he had vowed
He was then prompted by God to say this out loud
"The Lord giveth, the Lord taketh away"
"Blessed be the name of the Lord today"
As an idol he had been treating her
Then a surrender to God did occur
She recovered that very night
As Satan could not put up a fight

Saying "I will only obey if I agree"
Is not submission, that's plain to see
Only by submitting when we disagree
Is our broken nature more than a decree

Abraham's obedience and fear of God was intense
He obeyed instantly, even if it didn't make sense
He obeyed when it hurt him and when it cost him a lot
When he turned, there was a ram in a tight spot
Imagine being a witness to that famous scene
The very first time Jehovah Jireh (the provider) was seen

We watched a short film (and heard a song) on sacrifice
Both Abraham and Jesus were willing to pay the price
So what must we surrender
To get a glimpse of God's great splendor?
