24 May 2009 - PLMC

This morning we heard from Rev Holdaway
About Proverbs 4:23 he had a lot to say
Interspersed with jokes and the odd story
His talk was clearly full of God’s glory
Jesus’ most common command was to “fear not”
Three hundred sixty six times, that’s a lot
Focus on the good that can occur
Rather than the bad of which we are not sure
Consequences result from choices we make
Our values, virtues, and priorities we cannot fake
These our hearts do indeed capture
The overflow comes through our mouths, for sure
The heart believes, the mouth confesses
A good heart keeps us out of lots of messes
We are better known by our heart-driven reactions
Than by potentially pre-planned actions
Bad choices result from a broken mind
The converse is true, we also find
From a right heart, faith will flow
That much we should all know
A captured heart should lead to prayer
If not on this path, we best take care
When faced with recurring sin
The cause is always from within
David opined that Goliath was too big to miss
But he looked twice at Bathsheba; something was amiss
God does not expect perfection
He cares more about our direction
We need to have the passion
Which we should never ration
God’s capacity to give to those who believe
Is only constrained by our capacity to receive
Jesus can help mend our broken hearts
But we first need to give Him the parts
Back together He can put our mind and bod
So we again have a heart after God
