23 May 2010 - ENCS

The last sermon in the FAQ series was by Pastor Curtis
'How do I know I am saved" was the title of his
He referred to many a Bible verse
And even had to use slides in reverse
The basic answer is what we read in God's word
The Bible serves as an accurate historical record
What we hear each week as we sit in the pews
Is the gospel, the story of Jesus and the good news
Other religions focus on wisdom and light
Ours is based on Jesus' power and might
He taught even though He did not come to teach
His death and resurrection allow us others to reach

Then we heard quotes from Charles Haddon Spurgeon
We can only get to heaven because of what Jesus has done
We can not boast of our works, says Ephesians 2:8-9
We can be saved be His grace, not works of yours or mine
Freely offered is God's favor and grace
We can not pay for this ticket to the heavenly place
'Come let us reason' says Isaiah 1 verse eighteen
Without God, the scarlet of sin will always be seen
We don't find Jesus, per John chapter six verse forty four
God draws us to Him, now and forever more

Ephesians 1:13 talks of God's preserving and keeping power
We are sealed with the Holy Spirit every day and every hour
John 10:27-29 says we are in the hands of God
We are secure in His love, for on Satan He did trod
1 John 5:13 says that we should know
That we have eternal life and a good place to go
Galatians chapter 4 verse 6 says to God we belong
We are sons of our heavenyl Father, who is so very strong
John Wesley's heart became strangely warm
God's assurance of salvation should be the norm

We then heard about the train of Mr Bill Bright
Facts driving faith then feelings is the order right
If we are driven by feelings instead
We will lose sight of the reason that Jesus bled
By now, the message should be very clear
The words of the Bible we should treasure dear
