25 April 2010 - ENCS

Pastor Neli started the series called "top five"
FAQs about faith, theology, and being alive
His topic was 'how to engage the world without being worldly'
There were some scriptures on the screen for us to see
John 17:13-19 and Mark 16:15
Say to go into the world, preach, and be seen
But there is confusion about "World", or "cosmon" in Greek
It has two meanings, if a dictionary you do seek
One is the world, which is loved by our Lord
The other is the world system, going with the herd

Christians tend to be at one of two ends of a spectrum
One is to be separate, from the world staying away from
But Matthew 28 and Acts 1:8
Talk of the Great Commission, do not wait
The other is to be immersed in the world system
Often lowering our convictions to be more like them
So we must settle on non-negotiable convictions early
Else the enemy's subtle ways will turn us from the gates so pearly

Without the infighting, the church would be more effective
We should focus on others - and on how we live
The best way to do so is to take a close look
At the Bible, which serves as life's great handbook
Of the kingdom, church is but one part
Into our secular lives, our Christianity should also impart

Pastor Neli then gave us key to engagement eight
First, "you are the best at something" (you are first rate)
Second, "don't stay in the locker room" (give your best when you play the game)
Third, "understand your guild" (it helps to tailor your approach and achieve your aim)
Fourth, "learn how to be a friend" (listen to each other)
Fifth, "you are not the only one" (work with another)
Sixth, "find mentors" (who are skilled and have more than one scar)
Seventh, in whatever setting or guild, "learn to pastor where you are"
Eighth, very importantly, "immerse yourself in God"
Think of Daniel and friends if you need a prod

In conclusions, be a planetshaker (don't just laze)
Please "don't be weak on the week days"
Remember to "love the world without loving the world"
So that God's word and grace can be unfurled

25 April 2010 – PLMC - 1115
I was able to hear part of Pastor Reuben's sermon
It was on Obadiah; Pastor was only half way done
He talked of five lessons to remember
Linked to specific verses they were

"Prideful self effort will fail"
Is what verse 1-9 doth entail
"Enemies will be shamed" again and again
Because our enemies are His as well, per verse ten
"God's justice is fair" from verse fifteen
God is love but His judgement will be seen
"Deliverance will come" per verses seventeen to twenty
A question of when not if, even if it takes years a-plenty
"God's rule will be established" from verse twenty one
The Kingdom will be the Lord's, His will be done
God's people will be the ones standing last
The judgement on others will be harsh and fast

God's kingdom was established in our hearts, that is so
Due to Jesus actions some two thousand years ago
His mission for us is to populate heaven
With as many as possible, women and men
