1 April 2018 - PLMC

Three PLMC pastors reflected on the meaning of Easter Day
As we gathered for service to greet the morning’s first sun ray

Pastor Chris asked what if Christ was not raised from the dead
And leaving us with only Good Friday and forgiven sins instead
Our faith would be futile, per Paul in First Corinthians thirteen
For without the resurrection God’s work is incomplete, it is seen

Pastor Irene concluded that Easter makes our faith a daily event
Per Romans eight, in us dwells the Holy Spirit that God has sent
The women shared the good news, as per Matthew twenty eight
We should do likewise with other people, for it is never too late
God will give us strength, according to Ephesians chapter three
Christ’s power enables us to do more than we imagine, we see

Pastor Jonathan spoke about the heavy stone in Mark sixteen
It can represent obstacles in our lives, both visible and unseen
Whe the women reached the tomb, the stone was rolled away
The promise that God deals with our obstacles holds true today

In conclusion, Easter provides us hope and promises salvation
This good news we should share without further procrastination

Christopher Chin spoke at the service at sunrise
Using acronyms for "EASTER" was quite a surprise
But first, he read from Luke 24 thirteen to thirty five
And the congregation responded "He is alive!"

Encountering Afresh Saviour Through Emmaus Road
Is what the disciples felt, to Jerusalem they strode

End's At Sight, Trouble Eventually Rolled-away
That is of course a key message on Easter Day

Pastor then referred us to verse five of Psalm thirteen
"God's anger lasts a moment, His favour a lifetime" is seen

Eyes Able to See Tomb Emptied and Redeemed
Things were great, not bleak as it first seemed

Ending All Sadness/Sickness Through Eternal Resurrection
We are all healed and benefit from His immense protection

Encouraged Again, Sent to Tell Everyone Rejoice
This is what we should all do in a very loud voice

Empowered And Sent to Testify, Evangelise, and Reach-out
God gives us new strength, of that there is no doubt

Acronym number six was the last
For the allotted hour had passed

4 April 2010 - PLMC

The wind started blowing and then we felt rain
The sunrise service went upstairs to start again
"Hope" was the sermon given by Pastor Christopher
An appropriate title for Easter, that's for sure
We read Mark 16 verses one to eight
For the main point we did not have to wait

Pastor first asked us to close our eyes while he read
To feel the darkness of the first three verses, Pastor said
The disciples missed the warmth of their master
His death was viewed as a big disaster
Moving the stone was beyond their strength
Their list of fears was of great length

And "then they looked up" in verse four
The stone had been rolled away like a door
The dawn's light penetrated the dark
Like God's hope, Pastor did remark
His hope is there for us all of the time
It is based on the Word of God, not just a rhyme
Hebrews chapter eleven verse one says it best
Faith is being sure and certain of our prayer request

Pastor added three other points, as a blessing not a warning
First, God's mercies are new each and every morning
Second, Jehovah Jireh will find a way to provide
When in the morning open our eyes are pried
Third, our hope is centered on a person living
For His glory we should give thanksgiving

To his Father Jesus may have returned
But He is with us as well, we learned
"When two or three are gathered in His name"
He will never leave or forsake us, the Bible did proclaim

We should allow hope to arise in our heart
Don't give up on praying for a start
We will see our deliverance soon, and thirdly thus
For He is here and makes all things possible for us

1 April 2010 - PLMC

Pastor Christopher Chin brought props with him
Clean water and a towel, but not on a whim

He read from John chapter thirteen
Verses one through eighteen
In which Jesus provided lessons four
None of which we should ignore
Humility was the first he did discuss
No task should be beneath any of us
Second is servanthood
Being selfless is good
Third is leadership by example
To "walk the talk" is more than ample
Dealing with sin was number four
Pastor talked about this a whole lot more
Verse ten talks of filth from within
We must be cleansed from our sin

He then spoke of the disciples' sins two
And later about what Jesus did then do

The first sin mentioned was contempt
None of the disciples seemed to be exempt
From John chapter twelve and Matthew twenty six
On Jesus the leper Simon and Mary's honor did transfix
The disciples were a bit indignant
Their dishonor was malignant
They started taking Jesus for granted
Ditto for the grace he had implanted

The second sin was that of pride
In heaven, who would sit by Jesus' side?
This was seen in Mark chapter ten
Luke twenty two talks of the sin again
Peter's humility was false and somewhat dangerous
Having a hierarchical view meant he could not lead us

Jesus dealt with these sins as from above
Verse one mentions "the full extent of His love"
And now Pastor's props came into use
A nice linkage he did produce
For the sin of contempt there was no rebuke
Jesus used clean water (this was not in Luke)
The disciples were treated like VIPs
As Jesus was the one on His knees
For the sin of pride there was no use of a firm rod
Jesus used a clean towel on which none had trod
The disciples were treated as precious loved ones
As parents would do for their daughters and sons

As the clean water and towel can wash the outside
Our sins were cleansed when on the cross Jesus died
He also left us with his "towel" of loving action
And his "water" of words that need no retraction
We should use these to love even our enemies
This idea Jesus clearly wants us to seize

And then with loud voices we did sing
Graham Kendrick's hymn "The Servant King"

"From heaven you came, helpless babe,
Entered our world, Your glory veiled;
Not to be served but to serve,
And give Your life that we might live.

This is our God, The Servant King,
He calls us now to follow Him,
To bring our lives as a daily offering
Of worship to The Servant King.

There in the garden of tears,
My heavy load He chose to bear;
His heart with sorrow was torn,
'Yet not My will but Yours,' He said.

Come see His hands And His feet,
The scars that speak of sacrifice;
Hands that flung stars into space
To cruel nails surrendered.

So let us learn how to serve,
And in our lives enthrone Him;
Each other's needs to prefer,
For it is Christ we're serving"

Pastor Chin spoke on "Colour Your World With His Word"
From Joshua 1:1-9 came words from the Lord
To respond, His words we must cherish
As they bring light to us before we perish
There are three things we must do in this regard
They sound easy, but are obviously hard

The first is to respond positively to His invitation
As His Word should form our foundation
If the Word is a promise, we must claim it
If it is a command, we must obey the same
If it is a truth, we must believe
If it an affirmation, we must receive
Joshua allowed God's Word to shape his perspective on things
That helped him to progress while ignoring the people's grumblings

The second is to allow the Word to renew our mind
And to enable us the right world view to find
His words and promises are always bright
They can help us no matter what our plight
If we feel weak and fearful, he will protect us
Per Joshua 1:8-9, we will then fund success
If we feel anxious and stressed,
We will not be crushed, merely hard pressed
Per 2 Corinthians 4, verses seven to nine
God's all-surpassing power can be yours and mine
If persecuted for our faith we do feel
Our reward in heaven God will reveal
As part of the Beatitudes, into this Jesus did delve
As per Matthew 5 verses ten to twelve
And if our hair color is gone
Remember Proverbs 16 : 31!

The third is to bind our lives to the discipline of the Word
Bible study is required, that's what we heard
To memorise is to bind His Words to our mind
By meditating, onto our heart the Words will bind
To obey is to bind the Words to our will
By praying, to hope the Words will bind and fulfil
To bind Words to others, we must teach
Our children and nation we can then reach

Pastor Chin also gave us some verses to remember
Linking to our daily lives, be in June or December
Think Isaiah chapter one, verse eighteen
When brushing your teeth nice and clean
Think Ephesians five, verse twenty six
When bathing, where water and soap do mix
Think Isaiah sixty one verse three
When taking attire from the clothes tree
Think Psalms 121, verses seven and eight
While going to work, be it early or late
Think 2 Corinthians 12 verse 9
While at the office or on the assembly line
Think Psalms 65 verse eight
When coming back to your front gate
Think Psalms 23 and 127 verse 2
Before you sleep, as the last thing you do
