14 June 2009 - PLMC

He started talking well past noon
As we had already had our Holy Commune
Then Pastor Kay Leong did delve
Into Mark 2, verses one to twelve
It is the story of the paralytic
There’s no need to get too analytic
He linked it to a talk with his boys
About BGR and all that noise
Priorities are key
For both you and me
As they drive where our effort is focused
The implications cannot be missed
Verse five says that “forgiven is our sin”
So Jesus said to the man they dropped in
Jesus is who people wanted to be near
His teaching and healing were held very dear
To sin means ‘to miss the target’ in Greek
Jesus’ forgiveness we must therefore seek
He had authority wide-ranging
Casting out demons deranging
Along with healing the sick
Restoring those nobody would pick
But to reconcile man with God
Is why Jesus on this earth did plod
Onto this earth we were born and will die
For our physical being, that’s no lie
But if with Jesus we do set forth
He will grant us a second birth
We can choose on what to focus
The tangible temporal hocus-pocus
Or the intangible eternal life in heaven
The latter deserves much more attention
We must feed on God’s Word
Whether written or heard
To His teaching we should ourselves align
We really don’t need any other sign
There were three types of response in the passage
Most of the crowd were unmoved by the message
The unbelieving teachers of the law
Were cynical despite what they saw
Then there were the believers obedient
With extraordinary faith they went
Steps to obedience Pastor named four
These are the truth, not lore
Having faith in Jesus is the first
(Doing without is the worst)
Jesus has the ability to save
That is why His life He gave
To the needy people we must go
In our actions our faith must show
Carrying others’ burdens was the third
It is hard work but leads to a reward
The fourth and final thing
Is to Jesus them we must bring
Don’t bring them to Pastor
Go to Jesus, it’s faster
We also heard testimony from a pair
Who asked a lot of God in prayer
Healed and saved was their friend
The mother also converted before the end
As we ran out of time
Pastor told us the bottom line
To obey Jesus is to share with those in need
So from eternal condemnation they can be freed
