17 January 2010 - ENCS

2 Corinthians 8:7 says to excel in everything
In faith, in speech, in love, and in the grace of giving
We must decide to make the extra effort
Tithing our money and time should not hurt

Then about "One Disciple" Pastor Larry did speak
As "The Power of One" series was in its third week
Examples in the Bible include Elijah and Elisha
Naomi and Ruth, as well as Moses and Joshua
It is a radical decision to take seriously God's word
So about the importance of discipleship we then heard

The first point is that it is a call to follow
That means today, don't wait for tomorrow
As was written in Matthew 4 from verse 19
The disciples followed as soon as Jesus they had seen
If you let other things into your life
Per 2 Peter 2 :19, you will find strife
Encourage others that to follow God they must do
Not someone on earth like a pastor, me, or you

Discipleship is also a call to fish
Matthew 28 : 19-20 quotes Jesus' wish
Jesus spent His life helping others and teaching
God gives us strength when we are making disciples or preaching
If we each make one disciple per year
Soon we won’t be able to fit in here

The call to brokenness is most important
If not broken, to be taught we can't
Life is a series of walking through offenses, Pastor said
Even Peter was rebuked often until on the cross Jesus bled
We may not understand times when we are hurt or beat
But there are moments of opportunity, not defeat
Read 1 Peter 2, verses 6-8
We are destined for something great
But God can only mold and shape us
If when he breaks us, we don't make a fuss
Referring back to Peter, see Acts 4 : 13
His strength was evident and by all was seen
So in order to follow God's call
We ourselves must be teachable
