1 November 2009 - ENCS

Before the offering we did glean
From Proverbs 12, verse thirteen
About the tongue and its great power
Words can make others happy or dour
So we must take care in what we say
If God's wishes we are to obey

"Cross culture" is the name of the series new
Pastor Larry listed lots of cultural mistakes we do
The key for us is to always apply the cross
When we are in other countries or when we see joss
As we read in Colossians 2:15
And also in Galatians 6 verse 14
We no longer need to be bound by fear
If we believe the words of God we hear
Knowledge of the cross and Jesus, who we know
Matter more than what self-help books may to us show

Only through the cross can "The Power of Change" occur
Since change is inevitable, that's for sure
Refer to Luke 9, versus 23-25
To learn how to really be alive
Take up our cross every day
That is the only way
"I surrender all" are the words of the hymn
Because it is much more than just believing in Him
From verse 18 of First Corinthians chapter one
The message of the cross is the power of the Father and the Son
We need to very willingly "cross train"
God needs us to change again and again
At times we might be forced to carry the cross
Like, in Mark 15, Simon of Cyrene did for Our Boss
But thinking of Hebrews 12, verses one and two
Just remember all the Jesus did for me and for you

When thinking about change and choices
Don't wait to hear others' voices
Just listen to our eternal God above
Even as He disciplines those He doth love
We make choices each and every day
Even doing nothing, or to change saying nay

So we are each not at a cross road
In the end, we will reap what we have sowed
Be the change that the world needs to see
For God loves us, both you and me
As He loves us who are undeserving
Let our faith inspire our acts of serving
After we heard the sermon and the word
We sang "Thank you for the cross, Lord"
