7 December 2010 - Matthew 22:34-40

"Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees"
Then got together a group of the Pharisees
"One of them, an expert in the law"
Tested Jesus, trying to find a flaw
"Which is the greatest commandment" of them all?
For this trick, Jesus of course did not fall
"Love the Lord...with all your heart,...soul,...and mind"
Then, "love your neighbor as yourself"; be kind
On these two, all the Law does hang
With these words, He did disperse the gang

It sounds so simple in this verse
But reality is of course the reverse
The first requires complete devotion
The second eliminates negative emotion
The first must penetrate every thoughts, word, and deed
The second is what the world really doth need
So dear Jesus please help me to obey
These two commandments that you did say
