21 December 2010 - 2 Corinthians 8:7-14

Verse seven starts "but since you excel in everything"
"See that you also excel in this grace of giving"
"I am not commanding you" from above
"But I want to test the sincerity of your love"
"For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ"
"That though he was rich" and often enticed
"Yet for your sake he became poor"
"So that you...might become rich" for evermore
"And here is my judgment about what is best"
"Finish the work" so that others may be blessed
Verse twelve says "for if the willingness is there"
"The gift is acceptable" just because we care
"Our desire is not that others might be relieved"
"While you are hard pressed" and peeved
"But that there might be equality"
Helping others is what we should see

This continues from the passage yesterday
But gets the point across in a more direct way
Jesus gave up all his riches here on earth
That should make it clear what heartfelt giving is worth
So when we think of the Christmas season
Let us remember what is the true reason
God sent His Son in the body of a man
From God's stated will, Jesus never ran
That is why He gave up so much
With that truth, we should not be out of touch
So as much as Christmas inspires giving
We should do the same as long as we are living
