"But God himself is behind it all" for He helps us prepare
"Each person is given something to do"
"That shows who God is", that is true
"Everyone gets in on it, everyone benefits"
The Spirit hands out gifts as to each one befits
"The variety is wonderful - wise counsel, clear understanding"
"Simple trust, healing the sick, miraculous acts" are outstanding
But also "proclamation and distinguishing between spirits"
Last but not least are tongues (and any interpretation that fits)
"All these gifts have a common origin"
They are handed out by the one without sin
"He decides who gets what, and when"
With that, we should all say amen
I like reading this passage from time to time
Even if it a bit difficult to make it rhyme
For it reminds me that we are given at least one gift
That we should all be using to uplift
And whether the gift seems big or small
Or whether others can see it at all
Our talents and gifts come from God above
So I know that they are given with love
So thank you God for what you have given me
Let me use them wisely to glorify thee
