15 November 2010 - James 2:14-17

"What good is it...if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds?"
"Can such faith save them" in times of their greatest needs?
"Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food"
"If one of you says to them", even in a helpful mood
Per verse sixteen, "go in peace; keep warm and well fed"
"But does nothing about their physical needs", James said
It does the person no good at all
For even their hunger did not forestall
"In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action"
"Is dead" and leads to God's dissatisfaction

"Faith without deeds is dead" is a powerful verse
Of course the same applies to the converse
Our faith should drive us to do good things
For that is what God's love surely brings
Doing good deeds without faith is just fine
But eternity requires loving this God of mine
So please dear God let my faith be strong
And let my list of good deeds be very long
