"You, however, must teach what is appropriate to sound doctrine"
The first verse of Paul's letter to Titus does caution
"Teach the older men to be...self-controlled and sound in faith"
"In love and in endurance" he went on to sayeth
"Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent" and live as they should
"Not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good"
"Then they can urge the younger women to love their" families
"To be self-controlled and pure,...to be kind, and" their husbands please
In that way their actions will not be a facade
"So that no one will malign the word of God"
"Similarly, encourage the young men to be self-controlled"
"In everything set them an example by doing what is good", we are told
"In your teaching show integrity, seriousness and soundness of speech"
This is what Paul, in his letter, is trying to teach
"For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation"
"To all men" no matter what their denomination
"It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passion"
"To live self-controlled, upright and godly lives" even when not in fashion
"These, then, are the things you should teach"
"Encourage and rebuke with all authority" in your speech
While Paul's words focus on what and how we should teach
It was verses seven and twelve that to me really did preach
For they focused on how I should be living
Actions are more important than any words I am giving
So please dear God help me to live in an upright way
Doing your will, not mine, each and every day
