14 November 2010 - ENCS

Pastor Larry continued the series "Follow the Leader"
Many verses were shown; I had to be a quick reader
Moses was a very humble person
And from God he never did run
Moses' humility is mentioned in Numbers 12:3
The implication of which in Matthew 23:12 we see
"He who humbles himself will be exalted"
For in God's eyes, humility is never faulted
Pastor talked of humility traits four
As he tried to teach us even more

The first is that humility starts in the heart
Being tested by God often plays a big part
Per Deuteronomy 8:2, in the desert Israel spent 40 years
For God wanted to know if his commands entered their ears
Looking at Matthew 11:29 and Hebrews 11:24
About the humility of Jesus and Moses we learn more
Moses didn't let his position get to his head
He took time to reach other people instead
From Exodus 2:11 and Hebrews 11:25-26
With the people of God he did choose to mix
Per Exodus 2:14 and 15
Moses fled to place he had never been
In Psalm 34 verse 15 we did then read
"The Lord is close to the broken hearted" who are in need
But remember that many times brokenness can occur
If with God's will our actions do not concur

The second is that humility serves others
Whether or not they are Christian brothers
Looking at Ephesians 4:12 and Philippians 2:3
"Consider others better than yourself" is the message we see
Moses served his family but also the sheep
In this way, patience and tolerance he did keep

Humility is being teachable is the third
From Proverbs 18:12 and James 4:6 we then heard
In Exodus 3:3-4, Moses looked up and then did listen
By turning to God, we are more likely staying away from sin
Moses also demonstrated that he could take direction
Per Exodus 3:5, listening to God was his predilection

Humility acknowledges God is the fourth
Below sinners, Moses placed his self worth
In Numbers 12:13 and Exodus 32:32
His humility was evident for God to see
For his enemies to be forgiven Moses did pray
Even though their actions has impeded his way
And reading 2 Chronicles 7:14
It takes humility to pray, it is seen
Moses also acknowledged God through song
In Exodus 15:1-2 and Deuteronomy 32, with voice strong
This song will be sung by many nations
We later read in chapter 15 of Revelations

In summary, Pastor urged us to be humble
The alternative is that we will often stumble
