17 November 2010 - Proverbs 16:23-32

"The hearts of the wise make their mouths prudent"
"And their lips promote instruction" for any student
"Gracious words are a honeycomb", says verse twenty four
"Sweet to the soul and healing to the bones" and more
"There is a way that appears to be right"
"But in the end it leads to death" and eternal night
"A scoundrel plots evil" that is clearly dire
"And on their lips it is like a scorching fire"
"A perverse person stirs up conflict" that never ends
"And a gossip separates close friends"
"A violent person entices their neighbour"
"And leads them down a path that" cannot prosper
"Whoever winks with their eye is plotting perversity"
"Whoever purses their lips is bent on evil" and adversity
"Better a patient person than a warrior", says verse 32
"One with self-control than one who takes a city" or a few

This passage talks again of the mouth's power
To read all references would take more than an hour
It also talks of patience and self-control
These traits are of course good for the soul
So dear God, please help me control my mouth
Whether I am facing north, east, west, or south
And allow my patience to come to the fore
So that others know that you are in my core
