"This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you:"
"God is light; in him there is no darkness" no matter what He may do
"If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness"
"We lie and do not live in the truth", ending up in a big mess
"But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light"
"The blood of Jesus purifies us" with its might
We deceive ourselves if without sin we claim to be
"And the truth is not in us", that's plain to see
"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just"
"He will forgive our sins", in that we must trust
"If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar"
"And his word has no place in our lives", something that would be dire
Light and darkness, truth and sin
These are opposites from the world we live in
In darkness and sin we have all walked
Confessing this is about which John talked
For God's forgiveness I therefore pray
And must do so each and every day
