"Live by the Spirit", Paul did say
And into sinful nature you will not stray
For the Spirit and the sinful nature are contrary
They cannot co-exist, so be wary
"The acts of sinful nature are obvious:"
Immorality, impurity, idolatry, and being devious
Add in hatred, jealousy, rage, and selfish ambition
Plus envy, drunkenness, orgies, and dissension
"Those who live like this", Paul did warn in verse twenty one
"Will not inherit the kingdom of God" when their time on earth is done
"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience"
"Kindness,...faithfulness,...and self-control" in every instance
"Those who belong to Christ have crucified the sinful nature"
So "let us keep in step with the Spirit" and be pure
Between the Spirit and sin there is such a dichotomy
The choice is very stark and plain to see
It may not be easy, that is of course evident
But it is consistent with the teachings of Jesus, whom God sent
Long lists of the two opposites, Paul did give
One to avoid while the other is the way to live
