20 July 2010 - Matthew 5:13-16

Verse thirteen says "you are the salt of the earth"
But if you lose your saltiness, what are you worth?
For such salt cannot be made salty again
It will "be thrown out and trampled by men"
"You are the light of the world" says verse fourteen
Once lit, a lamp is meant to give light and be seen
So always "let your light shine before men"
So others "see your good deeds" and to God say Amen.

These words came from the Sermon on the Mount
Of which Matthew gives a thorough account
If for the world we are to be its salt and light
It is important that we all do what is right
And remember that whilst our actions should please God
They also serve to give others a gentle prod
Our actions are always being watched by others
Strangers, friends, family, and Christian brothers
