15 October 2010 - Proverbs 16:1-18

"All a man's ways seem innocent" in his own mind
But God weighs our motives, verse two doth remind
"Commit to the Lord whatever you do"
"And your plans will succeed" right on cue
"The Lord detests all the proud of heart"
"They will not go unpunished" for their part
"When a man's ways are pleasing to the Lord"
"Even his enemies live at peace with him", says the Word
"Better a little with righteousness"
Than with injustice, much richness
From the Lord are honest scales
Other weights lead to bad tales
In honest lips kings take pleasure
They value a man whose words are pure
"How much better to get wisdom than gold"
"To choose understanding rather than silver" hold
"He who guards his way guards his life" through all
For "pride goes before destruction" and a fall

This proverb has several phrases apt
Reading it one should be kept rapt
For God sees our heart inside
And we should be aware of pride
Our actions and words should be honest
Then we will indeed be blessed
