Delayed gratification is a topic discussed in a book
(Entitled “The Road Less Travelled”, take a look)
Postponing some pleasure for short term pain
Knowing that the end result is a bigger gain
And whilst to earthly matters the concept does apply
For God’s blessings, I need not wait until I die
For although heaven is the ultimate prize
If I can reject all of the enemy’s lies
I have no doubt that I will also be blessed
Here on earth, until my final day of rest
So dear God, this I humbly pray
Please do not allow me to delay
For this is what I really need to do
Truly repent and always follow you
