21 August 2011 - ENCS

Pastor Larry continued the series on “Attention”
“Don’t worry”, have childlike faith, was his contention
He read to us from Matthew 6, verses 25-34
Which told us not to worry about things any more
For “each day has enough trouble on its own”
About our worries we should try not to moan
The top causes of worry are things that us attack
Children, money, job, relationships, and a health lack
So Pastor Larry set out questions to answer three
Trying to help us live a life that is worry-free

“Why did Jesus say not to worry?” was the first
Worry is when our mind is in persistent fear immersed
Remember that from God, worry is clearly not
The enemy uses worry to get our faith to rot
For worry gets in the way of God’s great plan
And per John 14:1, trust in God – not in man
If we trust in Him, troubled will not be our heart
And with Him in control, worry from us will be far apart

“How does worry affect us?” was number two
In reality, it affects us in all that we may do
Physically, it leads to sickness, aches, and pain
Spiritually, it takes away from our focus main
And then relationships come under attack
Because attention to positives is in the lack

“How do we win the battle over worry?” was number three
Pastor said we need to apply God’s promises made to you and me
He shared “don’t worry, be…” numbering six
All are designed to this human state fix

“Be secure” per Matthew 6 verses 26 and 27
For supernatural provision comes from God in heaven

“Be peaceful” per verses 6-7 of Philippians 4
For God’s peace guards our hearts, minds, and more

“Be careful” per verse 7 of 1 Peter 5
For God cares as long as we are alive

“Be trusting" per Proverbs 3 verses 5 and 6
Our paths He will always straighten and fix
To ‘Soul Surfer’ movie Pastor also did refer
By trusting God, challenges should not us deter

“Be happy” per John 16 verse thirty three
For God is in control, throughout the Bible we see
And per Proverbs chapter 17 verse 22
“A cheerful heart is good medicine” too

“Be purposeful” per Romans 8 verse 28
For God turns situations around before it is too late
Remember that “in all things, God works for the god”
“Of those who love Him”, as we all should

In summary, about Horatio Spafford Pastor did speak
Losing his son and then four daughters was not for the meek
He found the spirit to pen a hymn despite that heavy toll
Saying “it is well, it is well with my soul”
