4 January 2014 - The Creation (part one)

I just started "The One Minute Bible Day by Day"
I am going to try to write poems the entire way
Note that I will probably end up some days combining
So if there is a silent day don't think I am resigning
Please pray that I manage to find rhyme after rhyme
I hope that you will enjoy them, if you have the time

The book of Genesis starts with the story of creation
Chapters 1 and 2 talk of life before the first temptation

"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth"
"The earth was formless and empty"; it had no real worth
"Over the surface of the deep", darkness did it cover
But over the waters, the Spirit of God did still hover
This story is paralleled in John 1 verses one to five
Which say that Jesus, the Word, was always alive
"The Word was with God, and the Word was God" says verse one
He was with God from the beginning, through all that He has done
"Through Him all things were made", per verse three
"In Him was life", "the light of men" that we still see

And then God said "let there be light" and there was light
He saw "the light was good", and thus created day and night
"There was evening, and there was morning - the first day"
God is our lamp in darkness, 2 Samuel 22:29 does say
In Psalm 27 verse one, David asks who shall he fear
"The Lord is my light and salvation" we go on to hear
Jesus is "the light of the world" John 8:12 does stress
Whoever follows Him will never ever walk in darkness
Revelation 22:5 says that "there will be no more night"
Without a lamp or sun, "the Lord God will give them light"
